Part I
About this event
The Volunteer Pull-A-Thon at Bratt Woods is a community-driven effort to tackle the invasive garlic mustard plant threatening local ecosystems. This hands-on event invites volunteers to work alongside staff and other community members, making a tangible impact on the environment. It's a great way to spend a morning outdoors, contributing to conservation efforts while learning about local flora.
Participants should come prepared for off-trail hiking and bring their own work gloves if possible. The event is suitable for groups and families, though children under 13 need parental supervision. Remember, there are no restroom facilities on site, so plan accordingly. This initiative not only helps preserve the beauty of Bratt Woods but also fosters a sense of community and environmental stewardship.
From the organizer
Garlic Mustard is an invasive plant that’s taking over our woodlands. It crowds out our native wildflowers and endangers forests by preventing tree seedlings from growing. Join restoring lands staff and volunteers as we do a Garlic Mustard Pull-A-Thon at Bratt Woods to remove this invasive species from our preserve! The Garlic Mustard Pull-A-Thon is an annual fundraiser put on by Sewisc. Young people and adults throughout Southeastern Wisconsin work to protect the woodlands of their neighborhoods by forming teams to pull this invasive plant.
