About this event
The Volunteer Pull-A-Thon at Decorah Woods is a grassroots initiative aimed at combating the spread of garlic mustard, an invasive plant threatening local ecosystems. This event is a chance for community members to come together, roll up their sleeves, and make a real difference in preserving native habitats. It’s a family-friendly morning with a focus on teamwork and environmental stewardship.
Participants will be guided by experienced staff and volunteers from Restoring Lands. While tools are provided, bringing your own gloves is recommended. The event is set in the scenic Decorah Woods, offering a beautiful backdrop to your conservation efforts. Just remember, there are no restrooms on site, so plan accordingly.

Garlic Mustard is an invasive plant that’s taking over our woodlands. It crowds out our native wildflowers and endangers forests by preventing tree seedlings from growing. Join restoring lands staff and volunteers as we do a Garlic Mustard Pull-A-Thon at Decorah Woods to remove this invasive species from our preserve! The Garlic Mustard Pull-A-Thon is an annual fundraiser put on by Sewisc. Young people and adults throughout Southeastern Wisconsin work to protect the woodlands of their neighborhoods by forming teams to pull this invasive plant. Work gloves are recommended, tools provided. This preserve does not have a restroom on site. Group and family-friendly, children 13 and under require parental supervision. volunteer waiver required.

Drop in anytime — no commitment needed
Pro tips
Bring snacks and water for the kids, as there are no restrooms or facilities on site. It's a good idea to have a small backpack with essentials for the little ones.
The trail can be uneven and muddy, so wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for off-trail hiking. Arrive a bit early to get familiar with the area and meet the team.
