The details

About this event

The Volunteer Pull-A-Thon at Decorah Woods is more than just a cleanup event; it's a community-driven effort to combat the invasive garlic mustard plant threatening local ecosystems. Participants will team up to remove this plant, which endangers native wildflowers and tree seedlings. It's a great way to spend a morning outdoors, contributing to conservation efforts while enjoying the natural beauty of West Bend.

This annual event, organized by Sewisc, brings together people of all ages from Southeastern Wisconsin. It's a perfect opportunity for families and groups to engage in meaningful environmental work. Make sure to dress appropriately for the weather and terrain, and don't forget your work gloves. While there are no restrooms on site, the camaraderie and sense of accomplishment make it all worthwhile.

From the organizer

Garlic Mustard is an invasive plant that’s taking over our woodlands. It crowds out our native wildflowers and endangers forests by preventing tree seedlings from growing. Join restoring lands staff and volunteers as we do a Garlic Mustard Pull-A-Thon at Decorah Woods to remove this invasive species from our preserve! The Garlic Mustard Pull-A-Thon is an annual fundraiser put on by Sewisc. Young people and adults throughout Southeastern Wisconsin work to protect the woodlands of their neighborhoods by forming teams to pull this invasive plant.
