The details

About this event

If you're curious about local wildlife and enjoy being outdoors, this community science training is a perfect opportunity. Hosted at Spirit Lake, the session focuses on teaching volunteers how to search for reptiles and amphibians using cover boards. It's a practical way to get involved in conservation efforts while learning valuable field skills.

The event is designed for those who don't mind a bit of off-trail hiking and are eager to contribute to preserving local ecosystems. You'll be equipped with the necessary tools, but remember to bring your own work gloves and dress appropriately for the weather. This training is not just educational but also a chance to connect with nature and like-minded individuals.

From the organizer

These sessions will teach the process of searching for reptiles and amphibians underneath cover board locations on Restoring Lands Preserves. Interested volunteers will be required to attend one of the three training sessions. Please dress for the elements and be prepared for hiking off trail. Work gloves are recommended, tools provided.
