A short course at Lydell Community Center built for 4th–6th graders who are starting to stay home alone for short stretches. Jessica Heller; owner of Heller Safety Solutions; teaches the practical stuff: safe habits; how to prevent risky situations; and what to do when the power goes out or the weather turns. Kids also get introduced to the Safe Sitter First Aid Chart and a system for assessing and responding to injuries. A hard-copy textbook is included. Scouts working toward a badge add $2 at registration. July 22; 4pm-5:30pm · At Lydell School & Community Center · $38 residents; $48 non-residents.
