About this event
If you've ever wanted to try your hand at pottery, this Wheel Throwing Level 1 class is a fantastic starting point. Held at the cozy Tooth and Nail Studio in Milwaukee, the course spans four weeks and covers all the basics of wheel throwing. With no prior experience required, you'll be guided through the entire process from shaping to glazing. The class fee includes all materials, so you can focus entirely on learning and creating.
Instructor Ang Van Den Eeden brings years of experience and a passion for ceramics to the table. You'll benefit from their expertise and supportive teaching style, making this class both educational and enjoyable. Plus, the included open studio session offers a chance to refine your skills further. By the end of the course, you'll have the confidence to continue exploring pottery on your own.
From the organizer
In this beginner course, the basics of throwing on the potter’s wheel and creating pieces from start to finish will be covered. All clay, glazes, tools, and firing fees are included in the cost of the class. No experience is needed as this class will begin with an explanation of the ceramic process and move through throwing, trimming, and glazing. The goal of this course is to give students a foundation of skills to build on and the confidence to do so with or without continued direct instruction. Class can be repeated to hone basic skills before moving on to Level 2. One free open studio session during the month of the class is included so that students can practice or complete extra work on their projects. Once this four week course is completed, students are eligible to work in T+N’s studio independently during future open studio hours. Registration is not refundable or exchangeable less than 14 days before the start date of the class. Also, missed classes cannot be made up.

Part II · The feel
The details organizers don't always put in the description — pulled from the room, the crowd, and what people remember afterward.
Library rules. Whispers and a calm body — this is not a talking-out-loud room.
Sweet spot is 3–6 people actively doing the thing together.
