About this event

Tooth and Nail Studio offers a unique opportunity for teens to get hands-on with pottery at their Wheel Throwing Camp. This four-day experience is perfect for young creatives eager to learn the art of ceramics. Under the guidance of experienced instructor Ang Van Den Eeden, participants will explore everything from centering clay to applying decorative techniques like sgraffito. By the end of the camp, each teen will have crafted several pieces, ready for glazing and firing.

The camp is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to pottery, making it ideal for beginners. Teens will leave with a sense of accomplishment, having created functional and artistic pieces they can proudly display. With limited spots available, early registration is encouraged to secure a place in this engaging and educational camp.

From the organizer

This camp introduces teens to the essential skills of wheel throwing in a real ceramic studio. Students will learn how to center clay, open forms, and pull walls while creating functional pottery such as cups, bowls, and small plates. Campers will learn trimming techniques and how to add handles using slip and score. We’ll also explore simple surface decoration techniques, including carving and sgraffito. Each teen will select glazes for their pieces, which will be professionally glazed and fired for a finished, food-safe result. Finished pots will be ready for pickup 3 weeks after camp. Each camper can expect to finish 6-12 pieces that they are truly proud of.
