About this event

SPARK!: Fathers, Flags, and Turtles at Schlitz Audubon is a unique program tailored for individuals experiencing cognitive changes and their care partners. This monthly event combines nature’s beauty with enriching activities like songs, stories, and visits with Nature School students. The presence of a therapy dog adds a comforting touch, making it a warm and engaging experience.

Held primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor components, the program is designed to be accessible and enjoyable. Shelly Rollins, who has been leading SPARK! programs since 2016, ensures each session is thoughtful and seasonally themed. Whether you’re looking for a supportive community or a gentle way to connect with nature, this program offers a meaningful experience.

From the organizer

This program is specially designed for both people experiencing cognitive changes and their care partners. It is intended for those living in independent settings. Each month is devoted to learning about the simple beauty found in nature and how it enriches our lives. Participants will enjoy songs, stories, treats, and visits with our Nature School students. We often have a therapy dog join us to offer comfort and compassion. Programs take place inside the Auditorium, and in good weather include a short outdoor component, close to the building. Themes are seasonally based and change each month. Your program host is Shelly Rollins, who has been conducting SPARK! programs at Schlitz Audubon since 2016.
