About this event

The Milwaukee Art Museum invites young families to a playful morning of art and music. "Play Date with Art: Funky Fibers" is designed for children aged five and under, providing a tactile experience with fiber art inspired by Robert Indiana’s iconic LOVE artwork. Kids can create their own fuzzy letters while learning their ABCs, and the sing-alongs at 10:30 and 11:15 a.m. add a lively touch to the morning.

This event is a great opportunity for young children to engage with art in a welcoming environment. The museum ensures a family-friendly experience, with free admission for kids 12 and under. Whether you're a member or purchasing tickets at the door, this drop-in session promises a fun and educational outing for the little ones.

From the organizer

Join us in May as we build, bunch, and wrap our own fuzzy letters inspired by Robert Indiana’s artwork The American LOVE (1966 – 99). Explore the fun of fiber art as you practice your ABCs, then join in the sing-alongs at 10:30 and 11:15 a.m. This monthly program is designed especially for visitors ages five and under (with an adult).

How it feels

The details organizers don't always put in the description — pulled from the room, the crowd, and what people remember afterward.

The room

Volume varies a lot. Kids events and festivals swing from quiet to loud with little warning.

The crowd

Easy to come alone. A little clapping, maybe a question answered — nothing that puts you on the spot.
