About this event
Once Upon a Walk offers a unique blend of nature, personal audio entertainment, and socializing. This event invites you to take a leisurely stroll through the scenic Estabrook Park while enjoying your choice of audiobook, podcast, or music. It's a perfect way to unwind and enjoy the outdoors at your own pace.
The walk concludes with a gathering at the Estabrook Beer Garden, where you can toast to spring with a Maibock. Whether you're power walking or taking it slow, this event caters to all paces. Remember to dress for the weather and bring your own headphones. It's a refreshing way to spend a Sunday morning, combining exercise, entertainment, and a touch of socializing.
From the organizer
It’s baaaaack…. Join us for the first Audiobook Stroll of the season. We’ll do a little May Walk and then have a little Maibock in a toast to spring FINALLY gracing us with her presence (disclaimer: it might also snow 🤷♀️). We’ll meet at the Biergarten sign and step off around 11:05. There is ample parking near the beer garden—just follow the signs on Estabrook Drive. We’ll walk for about an hour before hydrating ourselves with Germany’s finest around noon. Along the way, walkers are encouraged to listen to their choice of audiobook, podcast, or music, or simply admire the beauty of nature! New to Once Upon a Walk? Here are some things to know: 🚶♀️Walk at your own pace! Want to power walk? Great, take the lead! Want to leisurely stroll? See ya when you’re done! 👟 Dress for comfort, as well as for the weather! Think: cushy shoes, layers, gloves and hats, sunscreen... you get it. 🎧 BYO headphones and audiobook/podcast/playlist! You’re welcome to listen to our book club pick for May, or anything else you choose! 🍻 Our walks will conclude with beer (duh) at a nearby location, though this is of course optional. Alternatively, feel free to skip the walk and head straight to the beer.

Who'll Be There
Expect a mixed crowd of adults, likely in their 20s to 50s, including book club members, families, and individuals who enjoy outdoor activities. The casual nature of the event suggests a friendly, approachable group rather than a formal or exclusive gathering.
Part II · The feel
The details organizers don't always put in the description — pulled from the room, the crowd, and what people remember afterward.
Library rules. Whispers and a calm body — this is not a talking-out-loud room.
