Kids craft fairytale worlds in an outdoor art studio — dress for mess!
Part I
About this event
The Nature School Art Studio at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center offers a unique opportunity for young children to explore their creativity in an inspiring outdoor setting. Led by Artist in Residence Abbey Finn, this program encourages kids to draw inspiration from fairytales and create their own magical worlds using a variety of materials. It’s all about the process, allowing children to experiment and express themselves freely.
Parents can drop off their little ones for a morning of artistic exploration. The Gardens Outdoor Classroom provides a perfect backdrop, with various stations set up for kids to engage with different materials and techniques. This is more than just an art class; it's a chance for kids to connect with nature and their own creativity in a supportive environment.
From the organizer
Explore the natural world through art! Children can explore, experiment, and take artistic risks to discover their own individual approach to artmaking. We will take inspiration from our favorite fairytale stories and magical characters to craft creatures and worlds straight from our imaginations. Think gnome homes, princess castles, dragons caves, and fairy gardens. We will supply a variety of materials such as cardboard, paints, clay, and craft supplies and your young artist brings their imagination and creativity! This program is hosted by the Nature School’s Artist in Residence, Abbey Finn. This series of programs offers Process Art experiences, which allow children to focus on the process of making art, rather than the finished product. It’s an open-ended, unstructured, and self-motivated way for children to explore materials, techniques, and self-expression. The Gardens Outdoor Classroom will serve as our Art Studio with various stations for exploration of materials and processes. This is a drop-off program designed for children ages 4-6. Tickets are non-transferable.
