About this event
The Lakefront Discovery Run is a spirited way to wrap up the running season in Milwaukee. Held at Veteran's Park, this event offers a scenic route along the lakefront with options for a 15k, 5k, and a free kids run. The atmosphere is festive, with candy stations and costume contests adding to the fun. Participants are encouraged to dress up, and everyone is rewarded with free beer at the finish line. It's a unique blend of fitness and festivity, perfect for runners looking to enjoy the Halloween weekend.
Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to stay active, this event has something for everyone. The course is lined with candy-laden aid stations and features spooky music to keep you entertained. Plus, with awards for best costumes and age group winners, there's plenty of incentive to join in the fun. Don't forget to register early to guarantee your event t-shirt!
From the organizer
THE END IS NEAR!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!! Well, the Running Season end is near anyway, not so sure about the apocalypse just yet. Lets celebrate an awesome 2026 running season with your favorite season ending event. Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun!! The Lakefront Discovery Run features fun, with a 15k, a 5k, and a FREE Kids run!. Each distance can be run, walked, skipped, or hopped. There are age group awards as well as for overall winners. More importantly, there will be an award for ‘Best Costume’ as voted on by the event volunteers (please don’t attempt to bribe the volunteers. Bribe the Race Director, because at the end of the day, it's their call). Those in Costume get FREE BEER!! Also should be noted, those NOT IN Costume get free beer too (but no ALL CAPS announcement for them, damnit). The run begins at Veteran's Park and provides a delightful tour of Milwaukee’s lakefront. Candy laden aid stations line the course to fuel your run and satisfy your sweet tooth, and MONSTER MILE Markers along the way. Each runner/volunteer receives an event t-shirt (Runners who register after Oct 18th ARE NOT guaranteed a shirt), traditional post-race snacks, spooky music (what does that even mean?), and enough candy to make a dentist cringe! We ordered great weather, but just in case, we'll have a heated tent for the post race shenanigans. Come out and celebrate a successful season of running!

Pro tips
If you're new, arrive by 8:30 AM to find parking and get your bearings. The registration area can get busy, and you'll want time to enjoy the pre-race atmosphere.
Register before race day to save $5 on the entry fee. Also, BLS members get an additional $5 discount, so consider joining if you plan to run multiple events.
Who'll Be There
A mix of casual runners and more serious participants, likely aged 20-50. Families with children participating in the Kids Costume Race. Local community members, possibly including some who enjoy dressing up for Halloween. Likely a diverse crowd in terms of fitness levels and motivations for participating.
Part II · The feel
The details organizers don't always put in the description — pulled from the room, the crowd, and what people remember afterward.
Volume varies a lot. Kids events and festivals swing from quiet to loud with little warning.
Designed for 3–6 people. Good group-of-friends territory.
