About this event

Cream City Clay offers a hands-on pottery experience with their Hand Building Level I class. Perfect for beginners and intermediates, this six-week course covers essential techniques like coil construction and slab work. Instructor Lila Papenburg guides you through using various tools to add texture and structure to your creations. The class is intimate, with a maximum of 12 participants, ensuring you get plenty of individual attention.

Located on the second floor, the studio provides a creative space where you can let your imagination run wild. Bring along any inspiring images or items to imprint into your clay pieces. With free parking available, it's convenient to attend each session. Whether you're looking to create functional pottery or artistic sculptures, this class offers a comprehensive introduction to the art of hand-building.

From the organizer

Learn the basics of creating clay objects by hand using the methods of coil construction, soft & hard slab and the most basic of pinch. You will learn how to use the slab roller, extruder, slump, hump and sprig molds and other various tools to give your pottery texture and diverse, interesting structure. Create sculpture or larger functional pottery that is not easily attained on the pottery wheel to use in your daily life.
