The details

About this event

Tooth and Nail Studio offers a unique opportunity for kids aged 7-12 to dive into the world of art and history with their Guardians and Creature Vessels camp. Over four days, participants will create lidded jars topped with imaginative creatures, drawing inspiration from Ancient Egyptian Canopic Jars. This hands-on experience encourages children to think about what they value and how to symbolically protect it through art.

The camp is designed to be both educational and fun, providing all necessary materials and guidance. It's a perfect blend of creativity and learning, allowing kids to express themselves while gaining insight into ancient practices. With limited spots available, early registration is recommended to secure a place in this engaging summer activity.

From the organizer

In this four day camp, students will create a lidded jar topped with a creature or hybrid animal sculpture. Inspired by Ancient Egyptian Canopic Jars, which were made to protect the body during mummification, students will be asked to pick something that is worthy of protection to them (like a memory, a place, a relationship, a memento, a collection, etc.) and create a “Creature Jar” designed to symbolically or physically protect that thing.
