The details

About this event

Dive into a creative adventure with the "Building with Clay: Under the Sea" camp at Tooth and Nail Studio. Designed for kids aged 7-12, this four-day program offers a hands-on introduction to clay sculpting, inspired by ocean life. Under the guidance of Kira Straub, children will explore techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab building, transforming their ideas into tangible art.

The camp is more than just a crafting session; it's an educational journey through the stages of ceramics. Kids will not only create their own sea creatures but also learn to paint and glaze their creations. With limited spots available, early registration is recommended to ensure a place in this engaging and educational experience.

From the organizer

Let’s explore the world that exists under the sea, sculpt a squid or coil-build an octopus! In this four day camp students will have fun learning the basics of handbuilding with clay. Using our vast oceans as inspiration, students will learn how to make forms using pinching and coiling, slab building, and sculpting techniques. Over four days, students will learn about the different stages clay goes through as it becomes ceramic, and use their new knowledge to paint and decorate their work using slip and glaze. Students will walk away with a new love for all things ceramic, and all the knowledge they need to work with clay.
