The details

About this event

The Br!NK New Play Festival is a celebration of fresh voices in theater, spotlighting Midwestern women playwrights. Hosted by Renaissance Theaterworks, this event offers a platform for emerging writers to develop their scripts with professional support. The festival features staged readings and the Br!NK Br!EFS, a series of ten-minute plays that explore diverse themes.

Attendees are encouraged to participate in talk-back sessions, providing valuable feedback to the playwrights. This interactive element makes the festival a dynamic experience for both artists and audiences. Whether you're a theater enthusiast or new to the scene, the Br!NK Festival offers a chance to be part of the creative process and support local talent.

From the organizer

Each year, Renaissance Theaterworks puts a call out to Midwestern women playwrights to submit their work. Two playwrights are selected to receive the Br!NK Playwright Residency — the opportunity to develop and advance their scripts during a week-long workshop with a director, cast and dramaturg. This dedicated team partners with the Br!NK Resident Playwrights, researching and pondering the script from every angle. Following the workshop week, the plays are presented as staged-readings for the public at the week-long Br!NK New Play Festival in May!
