About This Venue
The Yahara Fishing Club is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting fishing knowledge and conservation in the Madison area's Yahara River lakes system.
Founded as a community-focused fishing association, the Yahara Fishing Club welcomes anglers of all skill levels through monthly meetings held September through May on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m., with free admission open to the public. Their meetings feature fishing reports, raffles, guest speakers, and annual contests, while summer months shift to "on the water" gatherings at various Madison Chain boat launches where members can fish together while enjoying food and beverages. The club also organizes seasonal fishing outings to premier destinations including Big Bay De Noc in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Sturgeon Bay for salmon charters, and the Wisconsin River system, with sign-ups available through their email.
Beyond recreational fishing, the Yahara Fishing Club is deeply committed to youth engagement and environmental stewardship, hosting annual Kids Fishing Days and ice fishing events to introduce young people to the sport while supporting local and state conservation efforts. As an affiliated partner with the Rock Valley Anglers, members gain access to additional regional fishing trips, and the club maintains active involvement with the Wisconsin Council of Sport Fishing Organizations and Wisconsin Wildlife Federation to advance fishing preservation and education throughout the region.
