Wisconsin Speed Skating Club

The Wisconsin Speed Skating Club is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization offering competitive speed skating programs for athletes of all ages and skill levels at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee. With over 90 years of history as a cornerstone of American speed skating, the club boasts an impressive legacy of developing 24 Olympians, more than 50 World Team members, and over 95 National champions. Under the direction of experienced coaches like Al Johnson (Long Track Program Director) and Jori Kola (Short Track Program Director), the club serves skaters ranging from beginners pursuing speed skating as a hobby to elite athletes training for international competition and Olympic trials. The club hosts major competitive events throughout the season, including the Great Lakes competitions, Holiday Classic, WSA Gold Cup, and the Olympic Trials, making it a hub for speed skating in the region. As a community-supported organization, WSSC welcomes new members and relies on donations and sponsorships to help skaters achieve their goals, offering both short track and long track programs that run from September through March.
