About This Venue
IPAMA - Institute for the Preservation of African American Music and Arts celebrates and preserves the rich heritage of Black artistic expression through interactive exhibits, educational programs, and cultural events across two Milwaukee locations.
IPAMA operates two campuses dedicated to showcasing the African American artistic journey across diverse musical genres and cultural artifacts. The Jeffrey A. Tucker Campus on West Hampton Avenue and the Martel C. Scott Campus on Swan Road together create a comprehensive cultural experience that engages the community through exhibits highlighting the narratives of struggle, triumph, and creativity in Black artistic traditions. The organization welcomes visitors to explore and connect with the profound contributions of African American artists to world art history.
Founded with a mission to engage, empower, and enlighten the community, IPAMA also operates the Mother Kathryn Daniels Conference Center, established in 2004, which provides educational, financial, and social programs supporting Wisconsin communities. Whether visiting the museums, attending events, or hosting gatherings at their conference facilities, guests are invited to honor the legacy and ongoing contributions of Black artists while creating meaningful experiences and lasting memories.
