About This Venue
The African American Roundtable (AART) is a community-led nonprofit organization empowering Milwaukee's Black community through organized leadership and systemic change initiatives.
AART serves as Milwaukee's political home for Black people, fostering a welcoming environment where community members can develop authentic leadership and actively participate in creating meaningful change. Located on the northwest side, the organization operates as an assembly of partners dedicated to transforming policies that affect the Black community, with a focus on ensuring residents have access to adequate employment, housing, healthcare, and violence prevention resources. The organization cultivates the next generation of leaders through programs like their Leadership Development Cohort and community initiatives designed to build unstoppable, empowered communities.
The organization channels its energy into multiple campaigns and organizing efforts, including Feed the Change MKE, Youth Organizing, participatory budgeting initiatives, and the LiberateMKE movement. AART welcomes community members to get involved through volunteering, membership, donations, and participation in events and organizing work. As a nonprofit, AART operates on the principle that "the power of the people is stronger than the people in power," inviting all who share their vision of a thriving Milwaukee to join their mission.
