Milwaukee Kayak Company partners with the Milwaukee County Historical Society for a 2.5-hour guided paddle down the Menomonee River and through downtown Milwaukee. Two MCHS archivists — Steve Schaffer and Michael Barera — narrate the whole thing: famous buildings, old bridges, the Algonquian roots of the word Milwaukee itself. The pace stays deliberately relaxed so there's time to actually listen; this is more history lesson than workout.
