Part I

The details

About this event

The Volunteer Pull-A-Thon at Kurtz Woods is a community-driven event aimed at combating the spread of garlic mustard, an invasive plant threatening local ecosystems. Participants will team up to remove these plants, helping to preserve the area's native wildflowers and forests. This annual event, organized by Sewisc, is a fantastic opportunity for families and groups to engage in meaningful conservation work.

Expect a morning of hands-on activity in the beautiful surroundings of Kurtz Woods. While tools are provided, bringing your own gloves is recommended. The event is family-friendly, though children under 13 should be supervised. With no restrooms on site, plan accordingly. It's a rewarding way to connect with nature and contribute to local conservation efforts.

From the organizer

Garlic Mustard is an invasive plant that’s taking over our woodlands. It crowds out our native wildflowers and endangers forests by preventing tree seedlings from growing. Join restoring lands staff and volunteers as we do a Garlic Mustard Pull-A-Thon at Kurtz Woods to remove this invasive species from our preserve! The Garlic Mustard Pull-A-Thon is an annual fundraiser put on by Sewisc. Young people and adults throughout Southeastern Wisconsin work to protect the woodlands of their neighborhoods by forming teams to pull this invasive plant.
