This camp introduces teens to the essential skills of wheel throwing in a real ceramic studio. Students will learn how to center clay, open forms, and pull walls while creating functional pottery such as cups, bowls, and small plates. Campers will learn trimming techniques and how to add handles using slip and score. We’ll also explore simple surface decoration techniques, including carving and sgraffito. Each teen will select glazes for their pieces, which will be professionally glazed and fired for a finished, food-safe result. Finished pots will be ready for pickup 3 weeks after camp. Each camper can expect to finish 6-12 pieces that they are truly proud of.
