About this event
The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra presents a captivating evening featuring Stravinsky’s The Firebird, conducted by Jader Bignamini. This performance brings to life the enchanting music of the fairytale ballet, including the thrilling "Infernal Dance." The program also includes Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol, a piece known for its vibrant Spanish themes and cultural influence.
Adding to the allure, violinist Giuseppe Gibboni, a rising star and winner of the Paganini Violin Competition, will perform a violin concerto by Wynton Marsalis. Marsalis’s work, with its jazz influences and dynamic movements, promises to be a highlight of the evening. The Bradley Symphony Center provides an elegant backdrop for this unforgettable night of music.
From the organizer
Jader Bignamini, Music Director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, conducts a suite from Stravinsky’s The Firebird; the music of this fairytale ballet, including its scintillating “Infernal Dance,” still feels fresh and wild. Stravinsky learned a great deal from his teacher Rimsky-Korsakov; here the MSO explores the latter’s Spanish-accented Capriccio espagnol, from its first alborada (morning song) to its final fandango. Witness a rising star as Giuseppe Gibboni, winner of the Paganini Violin Competition, performs an intoxicating violin concerto by Pulitzer Prize-winning jazz legend Wynton Marsalis.
