About this event
The Schlitz Audubon Bird Club invites bird enthusiasts of all levels to join their monthly gathering focused on nesting strategies. Led by knowledgeable guides, this event offers a hands-on opportunity to explore the nesting sites of various birds, including Eastern Bluebirds and Baltimore Orioles. It's a perfect way to deepen your understanding of bird behaviors while enjoying the scenic beauty of the nature center.
Participants will meet at the Visitor Center before embarking on a guided hike through the Feeder Grove observation area. This outdoor adventure is free and open to anyone aged 14 and older, though registration is required. Whether you're a seasoned birder or just starting out, this event promises an enriching experience in a supportive community setting.
From the organizer
Join a welcoming community of bird enthusiasts on the second Wednesday of the month. Anyone aged 14 and older who is interested in learning more about birds is welcome, regardless of prior experience. You will learn and enhance identification skills from experienced birders. This program is hosted by Schlitz Audubon Environmental Educator Laine Cotteleer and co-hosted by Dan Panetti, former owner of Wild Birds Unlimited in Mequon. They will lead you on a hike to search for nesting sites across the property, including those of Eastern Bluebirds, Baltimore Orioles, and other breeding birds. We will meet in front of the Visitor Center to begin our walk by the Feeder Grove observation area. This program will take place entirely outdoors. Free to all. Registration is required. Optional donation supports habitat preservation at the Center.

The details organizers don't always put in the description — pulled from the room, the crowd, and what people remember afterward.
Volume varies a lot. Kids events and festivals swing from quiet to loud with little warning.
