About this event

Widline Cadet's first solo museum exhibition in the U.S. is a poignant exploration of Black diasporic life and survival. Her project, "Seremoni Disparisyon," draws from her personal journey from Haiti to the United States, offering a deeply personal narrative through her art. Members of the Milwaukee Art Museum can enjoy early access to this compelling exhibition.

The day includes more than just art viewing. In the evening, Widline Cadet will engage in a conversation with Kristen Gaylord, providing deeper insights into her work and creative process. With live music and refreshments available, it's an enriching day for art lovers and museum members alike.

As a Member, enjoy early access to Currents 40: Widline Cadet in the Herzfeld Center for Photography and Media Arts. In her first museum solo exhibition in the United States, artist Widline Cadet debuts her project Seremoni Disparisyon (Ritual [Dis]Appearance) in full. Complete as of 2025, the ambitious series explores Black diasporic life and survival based on Cadet’s lived experience of emigrating from Haiti to the United States. Join us in the evening for a conversation between the artist and Kristen Gaylord, Herzfeld Curator of Photography and Media Arts.
