Free Art Lab at Center Street Branch for teens and tweens. Experiment with new supplies and techniques.
5-day nature and art camp for kids 6–11 at Lynden. Butterflies, microscopes, clay, watercolor. Aug 17–21.
Metamorphosis, Growth, Change asks kids 6–11 to track the constant flux of Lynden's late-summer landscape. Over five full days (9am–4pm), campers observe change at different scales—hiking through fields, looking at plants through a microscope, watching butterflies emerge in the pollinator garden—and use clay, watercolor, pressure printing, and paper pulp to record and interpret what they find. Particularly well-timed for late August when Lynden's landscape is at its most active.

The dynamics of the natural world ensure that Lynden's landscape is in constant flux. We can track change within this environment by exploring differences in scale, texture, shape, and form. Whether observing an ecosystem up close or hiking through Lynden's fields, or raising butterflies in the pollinator garden, we will seek out change and use clay, watercolor, pressure printing, and paper pulp to interpret our discoveries.
