Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters and Milwaukee Public Library welcome you to enjoy an evening of poetry and conversation with the 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States, Joy Harjo. Harjo’s memoir, Crazy Brave, will illuminate the layered meanings of language, culture, and history in the context of her own life. Harjo will also speak about her experiences as a writer and musician, and how these experiences have shaped her work as an advocate for culture and art. Boswell Book Company will be on site selling a selection of Harjo’s books before and after the reading, and complimentary light refreshments will be served.
